Hefty competition

Fergus got out to a 49-24 halftime lead, to which Riverland (3-6) responded with its highest-scoring half (61) of the season.

"I thought we responded well in the second half," said Riverland coach David Lillemon. "They just have so many weapons. They had eight guys in double-figures."

Kelly Connaughty scored a season-high 16 points to lead the Devils. Jake Bettis and John Tillo each added 12, and Curt Peterson and Andy Stouvenel scored 11 each.
