Lillie Lisetta Traff, 90

Lillie Lisetta Traff, 90, of Austin died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at Austin Medical Center.

She was born August 26, 1912, in Caledonia to Gustav and Methilda (Kruse) Schroeder.

She attended Houston County District #50 School.

She married Emil Joseph Traff on March 29, 1938, in Eltzen.

She worked as a cook for many years at the Austin Country Club and Tolly's Time Out.

Her hobbies included cooking, sewing and crocheting, playing cards with her family, watching hockey and baseball.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include son Lester (Barbara) Traff, Austin; daughters Norma (William) Bray, Austin, Leona (John) Detwiler, Austin, Gloria Traff, Ft. Collins, Colo., 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; brother Carl Schroeder, Caledonia; sisters Ella Meiners, Caledonia, Amanda Olson, Caledonia; sisters-in-law Helen Schroeder, Caledonia, Lillian Bresau, La Crosse, Wis., Phyllis Traff, LaCrescent, Evelyn (Donald) Kessel, La Crosse, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Arnold Schroeder, sister Clara Pohlman, great-grandchildren James Bray, Jakob Detwiler, Thad Holtz, nephews Kurt Corcoran and Kenneth Traff and brothers-in-law.

Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 1 p.m., Monday, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Ted Barthels officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Funeral Home: Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin.

Mavis "Mae" A. Wilds, 79

Mavis "Mae" A. Wilds, 79, of Albert Lea died at her home Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002

She was born on December 4, 1923, in Scarville, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and

Alma (Laugen) Bye.

She graduated as valedictorian of Scarville High School.

She married Horace G. &uot;Buzzy&uot; Wilds on July 1, 1943 in New York.

Following their marriage, they lived in Chelsea, Mass., where she worked as a waitress.

They returned to Minnesota to live in Ellendale where they operated Buzz and Maes Cafe for 4 years.

In 1955 moved to Albert Lea.

She had been a waitress at the Stables, bookkeeper for the Credit Union an the Eagle’s Club until she retired in 2000.

She was active in the Eagle’s Auxiliary where she helped with the Cancer Telethon, Bingo and in the kitchen.

She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary,

the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of Norway and Bunco Club.

Survivors include daughters Paulette (Dennis) LeBarron, Austin, Pamela (Allen) Rhiger, Mapleton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers Orrin Bye, Albert Lea, Clifford (Charlotte) Bye; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Orpha Storby and Lila Hauser.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, with Pastor John Holt officiating.

Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery.

Dorothy P. Kubicek, 84

Dorothy P. Kubicek, 84, of Owatonna, died Dec. 6 2002 at Cedarview Nursing Home.

She was born March 8, 1918, to Charles and Minnie (Pechacek) Pribyl in Summit Township, rural Steele County.

She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1936.

She married Clement Kubicek on June 20, 1939, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna.

The couple raised five children.

They farmed in rural Steele County for many years.

She was a homemaker for all of her life.

She was a 4-H leader for many years and was a past president of the Steele County Extension Better Homemakers Club.

While living in rural Steele, the couple attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl.

She was involved with many church activities while at Holy Trinity.

She was a member of the St. Jane Frances Guild and the Missionary Society.

After the couple retired from farming they moved to Owatonna.

She continued her volunteer work at Sacred Heart in the St. Blanche Guild and St. Theresa’s Sewing Guild.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters.

Her life interests included quilting, crocheting, baking holiday breads, gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include sons Roger (Donna) Kubicek, Owatonna, John (Peggy) Kubicek, Springfield, Mo., Dennis (Char) Kubicek, Austin; daughters Barbara (Lyle) Snider, Owatonna, Audrey (Duane) Halla, Owatonna; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Bernard (Dorothy) Pribyl, Medford; sisters Helen Chesney, Owatonna, RoseMarie (Bob) Green, Owatonna.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clement and a brother.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the funeral home with a Catholic Daughters rosary at 4 p.m. and from 9 to 9:45, Monday, at the church.

Service: 10 a.m., Monday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Hargesheimer officiating.

Interment: Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Somerset Township, rural Steele County.

Funeral Home: Brick-Meger Funeral Home, Owatonna.

Memorials: To St. Mary’s School, St. Isidore’s at Litomysl or Pacelli High School, Austin.
