Elmer T. Janning, 83
Elmer T. Janning, 83, of Blooming Prairie died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at Austin Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 3, 1919 to Henry and Catherine (Wittrock) Janning at Halbur, Iowa in Carroll County. Elmer married Eileen P. Ruzek on April 8, 1942 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Litomysl. A lifelong Blooming Prairie resident and an active member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, Elmer held many positions in the church and in the community including parish council, Knights of Columbus, civil defense, St. Columbanus Cemetery board and the elevator board. He enjoyed all sports, especially fishing, golfing and hunting. Elmer loved his drives in the country and checking the crops.
Survivors include wife, Eileen Janning; sons, Henry (Carole) Janning of Yutan, Nebraska; Brian (Mary) Janning of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters, Diane (James) Mundt of Owatonna; Sandra (Fritz) Bachmeyer of Sac City, Iowa; Denise (Lynn) Sibenaller of Owatonna; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Lloyd Janning of Austin; Herbert (Nona) Janning of Austin; sisters, Marietta (Daniel) Braun of Adams; Valerie Raun of Arizona; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the funeral home and at the church one hour before the service. A Ladies Rosary will be held at 4 p.m., KC Rosary at 7 p.m. and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father Richard Dernek officiating.
Interment: St. Columbanus Cemetery
