During the month of December, children admitted to the Austin Medical Center pediatrics unit will receive a toy gift.
Representatives of Sterling Drug presented the hospital with 40 to 50 toys in celebration of the store's 50th anniversary.
"We do not have a toy room anymore so it's nice to have this donations and we can give each child something," Linda Marsh nurse manager said.
On Monday, Jodi Orth, advertising and marketing coordinator and Sam Ewing store manager at the Sterling Main location, delivered the toys.
"It is our way of giving back to the community. We have been providing our community with their health care needs for the last 50 years and it has been rewarding for us. We want to show our thanks for the community." Orth said.
The store, one of 10 throughout the state, is the only one doing the donation. Orth explained that because the store is owned by a local family, it makes more sense for the donations to be given to the facilities here in town.
The toys were purchased from different companies and Sterling Drug clients.
"It's wonderful. We have not received a donation in this quantity or this kind of toys," Marsh said.
Along with the toy donations, Sterling Drug also has donated to other organizations and rewarded the store's employees.
"It's is a nice way to give back to the community, a nice way to take care of our kids and a good way to celebrate our 50 years," Ewing said.
