The Hayfield football team failed to get its first win of the season during the last home game of 2002.

Hayfield's offense was highlighted by a 100-yard performance by James O'Connor, who had 23 carries for 139 yards. The team generated only seven points and that came late in the game on a Cody Hegna 7-yard pass from receiver Scott Thompson.

Pine Island dominated the game of yardage by accumulating 308 total yards to the Vikings' 205.
