Hazel J. Dodds, 91

Hazel J. Dodds, 91, of Austin, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 3, 1910 in Story City, Iowa, to Joe and Hannah (Cherland) Chelsvig.

On Nov. 4, 1933, she married John A. Dodds in Osage, Iowa.

Hazel was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening and crocheting, playing cards at the Senior Center and her grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, Ronald and Patricia Dodds, Frazee; Donald Dodds, El Paso, Texas; daughters, Carole Granholm, Austin; Sharon Hatten, Brownsdale; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; sister, Nettie Haugen, McCallsburg, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Michael; three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, and one hour before the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Service: 1 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Mannel officiating. The casket bearers will be Richard Dodds, David Dodds, Sidney Troutner, John Hatten, James Hatten, Jeff McCormack and Larry D. Dodds.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery.

Bernice M. Glassel, 90

Bernice M. Glassel, 90, of Austin, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at the Austin Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Austin, to Enoch and Bell (Holms) Hall.

She married Joseph Glassel and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughter, Donna Hull, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Brimacomb, Albert Lea; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hollis and Ted; sister, Doris.

Visitation: One hour before the service on Saturday.

Service: 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at the funeral home with Rev. G.C. Knutson officiating. The casket bearers will be her nieces and nephews.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery.

Betty M. Johnson, 83

Betty Mae Johnson, 83, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Austin, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at the Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla.

She was born July 4, 1919, to Emil and Grace (Strange) Hanson in Chatfield, where she attended school.

She worked for Burr Oak Manor for 10 years and for J.C. Penney. She was an avid Twins fan, enjoyed sports in general, reading, grandchildren, her cats, card games and gardening.

Survivors include sons, Robert (Sue) Johnson, Minot, N.D.; Donald (Judy) Johnson, Waseca; David Johnson, Austin; daughters, Janet (Marcus) Siewert, Lake City; Janice Tucker, Largo, Fla.; Phyllis McAlister, Faribault; Barbara (Bill) Richards, Barlett, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Emil Hanson, Chatfield; Morris (LaVonne) Hanson, Chatfield; sisters, Burdilla Hanson, Chatfield; twin sister, Beth Murphy, Annandale; Dorothy (Wilbur) Schneider, Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Curtis; grandson, Bryan Tucker.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., today, Oct. 25, 2002, at the funeral home and Saturday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 2 p.m., Saturday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin
