Hayfield wins two matches, nabs 10th-place finish

The Hayfield volleyball team finished 10th in the 16-team Exchange Club Tournament hosted by Rochester Century at the Volleyball Center over the weekend.
The Vikings lost their first match to Park of Cottage Grove. They were able to keep it close during the first game, but came up short losing the game 13-15.
The Wolfpack won the second game 7-15.
Hayfield rallied back to defeat Rochester John Marshall taking two of the three games 15-5, 15-17, and 15-12.
The Vikings went on to win their third match by besting Fillmore Central 15-13 and 15-2, but lost their final match to Elgin-Millville in a close contest 15-12, 11-15 and 8-15.
Lauren Burmeister led the way with 31 digs, 10 ace blocks, 17 kills, and 8 ace serves, while teammate Tara Kramer contributed 38 digs, 9 kills and 18 service points.
Erin Gulbransen delivered 17 kills and 29 digs.
Tiffany Strobel donated 28 service points, 6 aces and 26 assists, while Cassie Kraetsch provided 17 kills and 29 digs.
Alyssa Nelson volunteered 21 ace blocks and 13 kills.
Hayfield will travel to Kenyon to play the Knights at 7 p.m. Thursday.
