Last Friday, Grand Meadow students and staff began their move into the new dome school.

All of those involved have been anticipating this changed since the groundbreaking for the first dome two years ago.

Students and staff moving into the school will notice the new design immediately, but

also will notice finishing touches that would not be possible without community donations.

The Grand Meadow Education Foundation raised more than $50,000 to purchases an electronic information board, playground equipment, stage curtains, shop, kitchen and sports equipment and an outdoor electronic flag pole.

All of these are things most schools take for granted, but are necessary.

The GMEF recognized that these items and others could not be included in the construction budget and wanted to make sure the school didn't go without them.

Thirteen community members came together and sought donations from alumni and the community to make sure the school would be complete when it opened this month.

We commend the Grand Meadow Education Foundation for recognizing the new school's needs and finding a way to get the money to make Grand Meadow's new school ready for students and staff this fall.
