It's refreshing to not only hear that progress is being made on 18th Avenue NW, but that project engineers plan the roadway on opening well ahead of schedule.

The road, which has been trimmed to a lane in each direction, has become a major artery in the Austin area in the past few years. This is due largely to the economic growth in the northwest portion of Austin.

As a result, more motorists are using the road, which had been in need of repair.

Now, project engineers say the road will be finished by November.

Some businesses and residents of nearby Oak Park Village have encountered some inconveniences because of the construction. However, it's good to see that most are being patient, knowing the outcome will be beneficial to all.
