HAYFIELD -- Lyle/Pacelli defeated host Hayfield for third place to lead area volleyball teams at the 2002 Hayfield Vikings Fall Classic volleyball tournament Saturday at Hayfield High School.

LeRoy-Ostrander lost to Rochester Lourdes for fifth-place, and Blooming Prairie was defeated by Lewiston-Altura in the game for seventh.

Lyle/Pacelli went 2-1 during pool play to emerge as the second-seed from the Gold Pool. LeRoy-Ostrander defeated Blooming Prairie in the final pool play game to force a three-way tie between L-O, Hayfield and Goodhue for the top seed in the Blue Pool, and Goodhue advanced as the top seed based on winning percentage.

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva went undefeated on the day, going 4-0 for first place in the tournament.
