Austin routs Owatonna

First-year coach Dave Handeland has done some juggling with his doubles teams, but lately it hasn't mattered.
Austin girls' tennis team swept the doubles matches and won three of four singles bouts in a 6-1 rout of visiting Owatonna Monday afternoon at the Wescott Tennis Courts. The Packers have played each of their three doubles teams in all three varsity positions, but nothing was going to stop any of them on Monday.
Margaret Wagner and Betsy Hingeveld remained undefeated this season (9-0) despite their move up to the No. 2 doubles slot. They soundly defeated Sara Hyland and Beth Christianson, 6-3, 6-1.
"We're trying some different things right now in trying to get our best lineup for the final few weeks we have left," Handeland said. "Margaret and Betsy stepped up to number two doubles today and were able to play some good tennis for us.
"We'll probably be trying some other things out over the next few weeks also."
Austin upped its overall record to 7-2 and moved to 4-1 in the Big Nine Conference. The Packers play host to Winona Thursday at 4:30 p.m., hoping to extend their current three-match win streak.
