Ruth Jane Folie, 61

Ruth Jane Folie, 61, of Austin, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at her home.

She was born April 21, 1941, in Austin, to Herman and Mary (Miner) Olson.

She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960.

On June 23, 1962, she married David Folie at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They made their home in Owatonna for about one year before moving to Austin.

Ruth was employed at Country Side Inn and the Holiday Inn in housekeeping and for the past 12 years has worked as a clerk at HyVee.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church on Austin, where she served on the Altar Guild, WELCA and sang in the church choir.

She enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques, family fishing trips, motorcycle touring and crocheting.

Survivors include husband, David Folie, Austin; daughters, Lisa (Galen) Berg, Oakland; Penny (Sean) Gilson, Adams; seven grandchildren; sisters, Joyce (Everett) Stundahl, Austin; Sue (Terry) Smith, Albert Lea; brother, David (Darla) Olson, Albert Lea; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Harold Deye officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery.

Elsie M. Culton, 87

Elsie M. Culton, 87, of Grand Meadow, formerly of Austin, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Meadow Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1914, in Walnut Grove, to Alfred and Nicolena (Hansen) Hemmingsen. They moved to Austin in 1930 and Elsie graduated from Austin High School in 1932.

On July 30, 1938, she married Harper Culton in Nashua, Iowa.

Elsie lived in Austin until June of 2001 when she moved to Meadow Manor Nursing Home.

She was a secretary at Hormel Foods until the couple had their two children. She then remained home.

She volunteered as secretary/ treasurer of Waterville Lake Association for 35 years. She also volunteered as Scout leader, at elementary schools and for the Hormel Historic Home for 30 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors at the Hormel Historic Home.

At age 60 she began to paint china. She sold hundreds of her art works.

Survivors include son, Bill Culton, Austin; daughter, Margie Culton, Austin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wally Hemmingsen, Austin; Roy and Mary Hemmingsen, Clearwater, Fla.; DeVonna Culton, Austin; sister, Lil Dugan, Pharr, Texas; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband in May 1988.

Visitation: One hour before the service on Tuesday at the mortuary.

Margaret Helen Robinson, 94

Margaret Helen Robinson, 94, of Blooming Prairie, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Blooming Prairie.

She was born Nov. 5, 1907, in Newry Township, to Ole and Sophie (Thompson) Benson.

She completed 10th grade in Blooming Prairie and worked as a telephone operator after school.

On June 6, 1928, she married Fred Robinson at her parents' home. They lived in rural Blooming Prairie. Fred died Jan. 2, 1988.

Margaret's hobbies were sewing, gardening, cooking, canning and cake decorating. She enjoyed her children and traveling to the west coast to see family.

She was a lifetime member at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, a member of her church circle and quilting group and taught Sunday School for many years. She helped with lefse baking for the lutefisk dinner at First Lutheran Church. She was a seamstress and active in 4-H with her children.

Survivors include son, Gerald (Sonny) Robinson, Lansing; daughters, Marilyn (Gaylord) Tollefson, Blooming Prairie; Doris Hill, Wisconsin; Beverly (George) Allen, California; Lavonne (Orlin) Sorenson, Seattle, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert (Lou) Benson, Blooming Prairie; sisters-in-law, Ella Benson and Dorothy Benson, both of Blooming Prairie; sisters, Thelma Goettling and Signe Pelinka, both of Blooming Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, David; brothers, Kenneth and Orville; sister, Inez Harms; and two grandsons.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., today, Aug. 19, 2002, at the funeral home and Tuesday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Rev. Richard Hegal and Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating.

Atlanta M. Fiksdal, 88

Atlanta May Fiksdal, 88, of Rochester, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Seasons Hospice.

She was born July 31, 1914, in Oakland Township, to Herman J. and Inga (Sanderson) Bell. The family later moved into Austin where Atlanta grew up and graduated from Austin High School.

She worked in Austin until she married Edward Fiksdal on April 30, 1939, at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. He died May 4, 2002.

The couple opened Fiksdal Flowers in 1947 and Fiksdal Motel in 1965.

Atlanta was active with her husband in the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, Boy Scouts and the Gamehaven Scout Council.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy (Charles) Linville, Ottumwa, Iowa; sons, Gary (Cory) Fiksdal, Rochester; Glen (Betsy) Fiksdal, Rochester; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Marie R. Belden, 83

Marie R. Belden, 83, of Austin, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

She was born June 22, 1919, in Adams, to Joseph and Margaret (Gilgenbach) Stephani.

On Nov. 29, 1939, she married Chester Belden at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin.

Marie was a homemaker.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marlene Belden, Austin; daughter, Helen Apold, Austin; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister-in-law, Florence Stephani, Austin; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, five brothers and five sisters.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, with a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7:30 p.m. wake service and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Richard Loomis officiating.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery.
