The Lyle School Board talked strategy Thursday night for its Sept. 10 meeting about its proposal for school construction at an estimated cost of $11.1 million.

Superintendent Jerry Reshetar and board members met with the architect, planner and financial analysts that the building task force has been working with this year.

The board decided to begin the meeting at 8:05 p.m. Sept. 10 and end it in about an hour and a half. During the meeting they will present the plan for about 45 minutes and open it up for questions. Before the meeting residents will be given cards to write down questions during the presentation. After the presentation, those questions will be collected and read in front of the group.

Residents will vote on the bond Nov. 5.

Reshetar drafted some strategies for the board to review. From those strategies the board would tell voters why the school needs a new building, how the proposal was developed, what the board is proposing, the benefits and the cost.

Board members, financial analysts, the architect and the building task force will be at the meeting. Reshetar will be sending information cards about the meeting to all district residents next week.

From the comments board members have been hearing from community members, the cost of the project concerns citizens most.

"This is a big project for a small school. It really is," said Reshetar.

Reshetar emphasized that the facilities like the gym, weight room and media room would also be used by the community, not just the school.

Some residents have asked why parts of the school can't be renovated, not rebuilt.

Sliv Carlson, education planner from the architect company, said the state may not give aid depending on the age of the building to be remodeled. Currently, the state's contribution is estimated at 38 percent for the proposed $11.1 million project.
