Aaron Michael Hayes, 20 of Austin, had his bail reduced in Mower County Third Judicial District Court Thursday.

District Judge Fred W. Wellman ordered Hayes' conditional bail reduced from $15,000 to $5,000.

Hayes made the request at formal arraignment in connection with a stabbing incident July 14 at a northwest Austin residence.

A 16-year-old Austin male juvenile was stabbed at the 609 11th Street NW.

Hayes told Austin Police investigators he was acting in self-defense after being taunted and shot with a paint ball gun.

Hayes was charged with second-degree assault.

Also at Thursday's hearing, Hayes

asked the judge if he could speak to his mother in the courtroom. The request was denied.

Through his defense attorney, Hayes also asked if he could speak to his mother "on the way over to the jail." That request was also denied.

He is currently in custody in the Mower County Jail.

Also Thursday, the judge ordered a warrant be issued for Peter George Noe, when he failed to appear as ordered after a July 15 arraignment on charges unrelated to the stabbing incidents of July 14 and 16.

In the July 16 incident at the same northwest Austin residence where the July 14 stabbing occurred, three males were stabbed, including one seriously, when a group of 10-15 males ran into the yard, wielding baseball bats, bottles and knives.
