The Austin City Council is expected to designate voting places for the primary elections on Sept. 10 and the general elections on Nov. 5 at tonight's council meeting.
The proposed voting places for the 1st Ward are the Austin Public Library and the Austin High School; for the 2nd Ward, they are Southgate Elementary School and Banfield Elementary School and for the 3rd Ward, the proposed voting places are Woodson School and Ellis Middle School.
Also at tonight's meeting, the council plans to discuss a developer's agreement for the improvements to the Milwaukee Roadhouse Addition, which include the public right-of-way extension of Fourth Avenue NE and maintenance responsibilities for the private storm water retention pond.
The council also is expected to discuss the Austin Housing and Redevelopment Authority's request to install a satellite cable system at the Courtyard Apartments and Chauncey Apartments. The HRA wants to install the system at the Chauncey Apartments building and then run the necessary wiring under the street and to the Courtyard Apartments in order to save the costs of installing two separate systems.
The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Austin City Hall.
The Ordinance Committee also will meet today to discuss the ordinances regulating adult-oriented businesses. They will meet at 4:15 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room.
