Hot rods and cool classics will grace the streets Saturday in downtown Austin for the Downtown Austin Classic Car Show.

The event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is free to the public, said Mike Schuster, a show organizer.

Schuster, who also operates The Bootery, said vehicle registration starts at 9 a.m. with a $5 registration fee per car. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 cars registered.

Contestants will have the chance to win trophies from Motor Supply Co., KAUS Radio, the Downtown Association, Mower County Shopper and Piggy Blues. There also will be a People's Choice trophy awarded, Schuster said.

A unique feature about the show is there will be no classes judged. The judging takes place from 1 to 2 p.m. and the awards will be handed out at 3 p.m.

Piggy Blues will provide a hog roast on Main Street during the event, and the cars will be showcased along Main Street for the public's viewing.
