That's the seat held by incumbent county commissioner Garry E. Ellingson, who is running for reelection.

Ellingson won the office after the resignation of former long-time county commissioner, Gary Nemitz.

Already there is a race for county treasurer. Chief Deputy Mower County Auditor Doug Groh is running for the office as well as Austin businessman, Lynn Koch.

And, incumbent county commissioner Len Miller, 4th District, is being challenged by Donna J. Olson.

Other county filings

Wednesday include Stan Bergan and William Lonergan, Jr., for reelection to the Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Commissioners.

City office filings

The latest filing for an Austin city office comes in the city's First Ward.

Vaughn "Spud" Bothun is running for the seat on the council held by Mickey Jorgenson, the incumbent, who has also filed for reelection.

The other city contest exists in the At Large race, where incumbent Dick Chaffee is being challenged by Wayne P. Goodnature.

Goodnature's filing marks the first time an incumbent city council member has filed for another seat on the council while in office.

Goodnature currently holds the other First Ward council seat.

The other city race created during the early filing period exists for a seat on the Austin Utilities Board of Commissioners.

The terms of incumbents Jack Dunlop and Frank Lorenzen expire this year.

Already two challengers, Vince Lynch and Ron Felten, have filed for the offices, while the incumbents are still making up their minds.

The filing period ends 5 p.m. July 16.
