What would you do if you suddenly found yourself with a briefcase stuffed with $735,000?

You can find out what one British couple does (and what the consequences are) in the Summerset Theatre's production of Ray Cooney's farce, "Funny Money."

Director David Dahlquist says the play is about a mild-mannered accountant who gets the wrong briefcase in a mix-up and finds 735,000 pounds in it.

The accountant plans to run away with his wife to live in Barcelona, but his wife doesn't want to. "The the problems ensue," Dahlquist says. "His real briefcase is found on a dead guy and then the police come to inquire about it … it's wild, fast and furious and very funny."

John Wagner and Kaye Perry play Henry and Jean Perkins, the leading couple, and say the play will have audiences rolling in the aisles. "You'll leave laughing," Perry says. "Well, starting from the beginning, you'll be laughing and then you'll leave sore because you laughed so much."

"I think audiences will enjoy trying to figure out all the confusion," Wagner says.

"And what they would do if they found themselves in that position," Perry adds.

"It would kind of change the day," Wagner says, laughing.

Though the play's fast pace keeps the audience engrossed, anyone who is late to the show will be left in the dust. "It's definitely one of those shows that if you come late, you'll be confused," Perry warns. "If you miss a couple of minutes, you'll be done. You'll be more confused than the rest of the audience."

The play will take place at 7:30 p.m., July 10-13, at the Frank W. Bridges Theatre in the East Building at Riverland Community College. Tickets are $9 each and can be purchased through the box office, by calling 433-0595 or at Nemitz's in downtown Austin.
