Stabbing suspect charged

Aaron Michael Hayes, 20, of Austin, remains in the Mower County Jail after a bail hearing Monday.
Hayes was charged in connection with the July 14, stabbing of a 16-year-old Austin male at a northwest Austin residence.
The victim was treated and released from Austin Medical Center for his wounds.
According to an Austin Police Department report, Hayes said he was defending himself after a altercation at the residence on 11th St. NW, in which he was attacked by unknown people.
On Monday, Hayes was charged with aiding and abetting second degree assault with a weapon.
Bail was set at $30,000.
As of press-time today, the bail had not been posted and Hayes remained in jail, according to a spokesperson for the Mower County Attorney.
