Herman L. Thissen, 65

Herman Lambertus Thissen, 65, of Blooming-ton, formerly of Blooming Prairie, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home of acute myleogenous leukemia.

He was born Dec. 2, 1936, to Frank and Myrtle (Corneliusen) Thissen, Sr. in Waseca.

He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1954. Following graduation, he attended Mankato State, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree.

He moved to Bloomington, where he worked at Thermo-King for approximately 40 years.

Herm enjoyed his cabin and friends.

On July 25, 1987, he married Milly Oberbroeckling in Bloomington.

Survivors include wife, Milly Thissen, Bloomington; brothers, Frank (Barbara) Thissen, Jr., Lakeville; Christopher (Janet) Thissen, Austin; sisters, Mollie (Donald) MacEachern, Minneapolis; Myrtle (Ken) Shimota, Fargo, N.D.; Mary (Michael) West, Akron, Ohio; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Philip.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Werness Brothers Funeral Home, 2300 West Old Skakopee Road, Bloomington, and at the Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newry Township, rural Blooming Prairie with Father Thien Nguyen officiating.

Interment: In the church cemetery.

Memorials: To the Mayo Clinic, Rochester.

Kenneth Earl Wilson, 73

Kenneth Earl Wilson, 73, of Austin, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

He was born July 20, 1928, in Austin, to George and Mabel Wilson.

On March 12, 1954, he married Delores Heller at St. John's Lutheran Church in Austin, where the couple resided.

Kenny enjoyed all sports, playing the guitar and he was an artist. He was an amateur boxer and fought in Golden Gloves as well as in the Army.

He was a lifelong Austin resident and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1216.

Survivors include sons, Jack Wilson, Austin; Dan (Marsha) Wilson, Austin; Steve (Melissa) Wilson, Chaska; Larry (Connie) Wilson, Austin; daughters, Christine Wilson, Canon City, Colo.; Sherrie (Adam) Savko, Columbus, Ohio; Jennifer (Steve) Dammen, Austin; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Doug (Irene) Wilson, Austin; Ralph Wilson, Austin; Fred (June) Wilson, Woodbury; sisters, Delores (Ray) Heimsness, Austin; Joyce Sloan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Curtis; sister, Eva Shatek.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 1 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Casket bearers will be Dennis Shatek, Terry Heimsness, Mike Sloan, Larry Wilson, Al Wilson and Craig Jurgensen.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91.

Patricia A. Forslund, 59

Patricia A. Forslund, 59, of Austin, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

She was born June 12, 1943, in Austin, to Theodore and Leona (Johnson) Opsahl.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, bird watching, fishing, dancing, family gatherings, visiting with friends, traveling and shopping.

Survivors include sons, Delano Riles, Austin; Dennis and Jessica Riles, Bloomington; Domonic and Michelle Riles, Austin; three grandchildren; sisters, LeVonne and Leonard Rehnelt, Austin; Mavis Sheridan and Zebbe, Ingleside, Ill.; Judy and David Johnson, Austin; Victoria and Merrill Sparks, Austin; brother, Jon and Vera Opsahl, Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Albert Delacruz and Robert Forslund; brother, Curtis Opsahl; sister, Nancy Ratzlaff; mother-in-law, Hazel Riles.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2002, with a 5 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service and Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Service: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating. Casket bearers will be Leonda Childers, Lisa Sutter, Leslie Lerud, Shane Johnson, Dave Johnson and Chad Johnson.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery.

Lucy B. Schottler, 93

Lucy B. Schottler, 93, of Austin, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at the Cedars of Austin, where she resided.

She was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Lyle, to George and Frances (Wegman) Schumacher.

On Sept. 26, 1934, she married Edward P. Schottler.

The couple farmed in rural Austin where they made their home with their nine children.

Lucy was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

She enjoyed homemaking, quilting, playing cards, gardening, reading, traveling and her family.

Survivors include daughters, Charlotte Winslow, North Mankato; Dolores and Jim Motschenbacher, Burnsville; Janet and Richard McDonald, Barrington, Ill.; Lorraine and Barry Stanek, Gordon, Wis.; sons, Paul and Sherrill Schottler, Somerset, Wis.; Wayne and Marcy Schottler, Helena, Mont.; Dan and Karla Schottler, Oronoco; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 15, 1994; son, Eugene; daughter, Barbara; grandson, Luke Stanek; parents; twin brother, Carl; brother, William; sisters, Martha Shatek and Mildred Schumacher.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., today, July 8, 2002, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service, and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father William Becker officiating. Casket bearers will be Melissa Motschenbacher, Shawn Schottler, Craig Winslow, Jon Schottler, Evan Stanek, Melissa Schottler and Ben Gildner.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery.

Norma Madeline White, 86

Norma Madeline White, 86, of Austin, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Alpena, Mich., to David and Irene Smith.

She attended school in Chatfield.

On Sept. 11, 1937, she married Haven G. White in Decorah, Iowa.

After their marriage, the couple lived in the Austin area, moving in to Austin in 1957. Haven died Dec. 26, 1973.

Norma continued to live in her own home until 1978, when she moved to the Twin Tower Apartments. In May of 2002, she moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and doing puzzle books.

Survivors include daughters, Juanita (Larry) Goodman, Zumbro Falls; Darlene Mikkelson, Marshalltown, Iowa; Gayle Dolph, Austin; sons, Melvin White, Tacoma, Wash.; Darrel (Betsy) White, Lake City; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Haven; daughter, Elaine Ruport.

Visitation: No visitation or reviewal.

Service: 11 a.m. graveside service, Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Randy Peterson officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery.
