Ethel Eleanor Becker, 82
Ethel Eleanor Becker, 82, of Austin, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester.
She was born July 1, 1919, at Pilot Mound, to Bennie and Millie (Soland) Trogstad.
She attended country school near Chatfield.
On Dec. 22, 1937, she married Arthur Becker in Chatfield.
They lived and farmed near Chatfield until moving to Austin in 1942. While living in Austin, Ethel worked part-time at Wennes Market.
She was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, WELCA and taught Sunday school.
She enjoyed spending time at the Austin Senior Citizen Center socializing and playing cribbage.
The couple moved to the Austin Courtyard Apartments in 2000.
Survivors include husband, Arthur Becker, Austin; sons, Robert (Donna) Becker, Rochester; Jerome "Jerry" (Margaret) Becker, Hayfield; daughter, Debbie (Jim) Schmeichel, Rochester; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Orval (Audrey) Trogstad, Fountain; Elmer (Elaine) Trogstad, Chatfield; Edne (Ramona) Trogstad, Rochester; Arlis Trogstad, Dover; sisters, Olive (Leon) Thorson, Chatfield; Ruby "Roxy" Olsen, Pine Island; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norman and Lester Trogstad; sisters, Mildred Jacobson and Betty Rain.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 10 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Barnett officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery.
