Mad Libs let you write the story

The wait is over.

It's time to get goofy with a popular feature called "You Write The Story."

It's a lot like the old game of "Mad Libs," where a room full of people would supply the nouns, verbs, adjectives, et cetera to fill in the blanks of a story.

The results were hilarious.

With another election year upon us, it's time to put on your thinking cap and zing everyone within range.

Let's see … where do we begin? How about that new version of "Three's Company," they're playing in the Mower County Attorney's contest? As well as the Mower County Sheriff and 4th District County Commissioner contests.

Here goes the zaniness. Just fill in the blanks:

Mower County Attorney Pat Oman walked into the

courtroom carrying a ______.

Right behind him was Assistant Mower County Attorney

Patrick W. Flanagan, who stopped ______and shouted "______."

Oman ______ Flanagan, who turned to Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jonathan Olson and ______him on the ______.

The scene was total ______.

Not long after that, the courtroom was cleared by bailiff Arden King, who said he

never ______ such a ______.

Mower County Sheriff Barry J. Simonson and Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp rushed to the courtroom with their ______ drawn and immediately ______ Flanagan.

This upset Oman, who shouted, "You're all ______!"

Olson responded, "What about me?" and offered to ______ Oman if Flanagan would ______ him.

That stopped the Mower County Board of Commissioners in their ______. Hearing the noise coming from the courtroom, the county commissioners left their ______ in the ______ and hurried upstairs only to _____ into Dick Lang and Donna Olson.

When Lang and Olson saw Len Miller, they ______.

"Ahah!" said Miller, "I saw you ______ in the courthouse and now you're under ______."

But Lang and Olson merely ______, which made Miller mad and he had to be ______.

At about the same time, along came Craig Oscar son, carrying a ______. The county coordinator showed the ______ to Mower County Auditor Woody Vereide who said, "I need a ______!"

To the astonishment of all, Austin Mayor Bonnie Rietz stepped out of a ______ and______ Oscarson.

Soon enough, she was joined by Austin City Administrator Pat McGarvey, who immediately ______ Oscarson. "Try stealing my ______ from me, will 'ya? I'll ______ you!" shouted McGarvey.

While that argument was going on outside the courtroom, the three attorneys were ______ inside the courtroom.

Bailiff King observed, "This is more fun than being a firefighter and ______ the chief."

Nobody laughed.

Suddenly, there were ______ coming up the stairs that echoed throughout the hallway and courtroom.

Everyone paused to ______.

When the figure rounded the corner, it was none other than Daryl King, maintenance engineer and _____ at the courthouse.

King stepped over Oscarson and McGarvey and looked into the courtroom where Oman, Olson and Flanagan were ______ at the defense table.

Without so much as a _____ of his _____, Mr. King said, "The roof is leaking again. Everybody must evacuate the courthouse immediately or they will _____."

No sooner had he said that than Mower County Sheriff candidates

Terese Amazi, Michael Cherney and Todd Clennon burst into the _____ room and locked the _____.

This prompted an unidentified reporter to remark, "How many ______ does it take to ______ a _____?

Nobody laughed.
