Jaycees win Albert Lea tournament

Led by strong pitching from Kody Retterath, the Austin Jaycee All-Stars won the Albert Lea Union and Trades Tournament over the weekend, beating Lake Park 12-2 for the title.
The Jaycees had won their way into the title game with an 11-10 win over Mason City. Trailing by nine runs the Jaycee Stars pushed four runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning against the Knights to earn a title berth.
Kyle Swatfager and Nate Justice picked up the other mound wins, while Brad Tucker, Derek Emanuel, Danny Hays, Sam Stier and Swatfager led the weekend hitting.
This weekend the Jaycees will host their 24th annual Youth International Tournament at the Todd Park North Complex, with teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Canada participating.
Opening ceremonies will be at 10:30 a.m. with KAUS sports director Aaron Worm as master of
ceremonies. Baseball begins at 11:30 a.m. Friday and runs all day Friday and Saturday with the title game set for 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
