Thieves take Speedway TVs

RACINE -- Deer Creek Speedway was burglarized

overnight Monday and two televisions were stolen

According to a report to the Mower County Sheriff's Department, the burglary was discovered Tuesday morning.

When deputies investigated they discovered the thieves had apparently entered by prying open a garage door and then entered the office area through a nearby door.

Once inside the office, they took two Sony model flat-screen televisions valued at $1,200.

Deer Creek Speedway is located along U.S. Highway 63 south of Racine.

Jewelry stolen

Abraxas Enterprises, 305 4th Ave. NE, was burglarized sometime overnight Monday.

According to an Austin Police Department report, a part-owner of the store told investigators he remembered locking the store Monday at closing. When he returned Tuesday morning, he discovered the front door open.

When he inventories the store's merchandise, he discovered

five necklaces and one bracelet missing.

The businessman estimated his losses at in excess of $350,

Man steals 'dogs'

Austin police are investigating a report of the theft of hot dogs.

According to a report,

a clerk at the Kwik Trip Store at the intersection of West Oakland Avenue and 12th Street Southwest made the report Tuesday.

A white male subject entered the store and went to the hot dog counter, where he prepared four jumbo hot dogs. While preparing three other regular-size hot dogs, the man proceeded to eat the larger ones.

According to the report, he went to the store counter and offered to pay for the three regular-size hot dogs.

When the alert clerk asked him to pay for the hot dogs he consumed in the store, the man refused and the clerk started calling the Austin Police Department.

The man left the hot dogs on the counter and ran from the store and disappeared.
