Real Men have different attributes

We still have about another week left.
But it gives us all a chance to ask ourselves: What does Father's Day really mean?
Or more specifically, how can a guy truly be a role model.
Twenty years ago, it was said that Real Men didn't eat quiche. However, it's more appropriate today that Real Men know how to change a tire without dialing their cell phone.
So what constitutes a Real Man, versus a wannabe?
Provided that she lives close by, a Real Man drives to store if his mother needs anything. A wannabe drives around with a sticker of a cartoon character urinating on a vehicle.
Real Men's clothes aren't offensive and embarrassing to those he may be with. Wannabes walk next to their friend/wife/friend's wife with a shirt and an arrow that says "I'm with stupid."
And Real Men have the courtesy to turn off their cell phones when needed. The alternative let it ring on and on in a movie theater or, even worse, in church.
So who in the news right now would be the idea male role model?
From my perspective, it's actually someone you wouldn't expect.
Coleen Rowley -- the FBI agent and lawyer who blew the whistle and criticized the agency for its mishandling of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks -- is pretty darn admirable.
Yes, the name is Coleen. And if you think that she's a woman, you're right.
But think about it. How many men -- or anyone for that matter -- would pipe up and speak the truth about their employer to a higher entity. At the same time, you're risking your name, reputation and your job.
And it's not just anybody you're narking on. It's the FBI.
But who cares if she's a man or a woman? Rowley's qualities of courage and honesty are benchmark traits that everyone should aspire to have, regardless of gender.
But back to what makes a Real Man.
A close second are folks like Bob Dole, Rafael Palmeiro and Mark Martin.
Hey, that's courage if you're willing to go on TV and do commercials for Viagra.
