Today marks the beginning of summer. However, with the warmer weather and the mosquitos, we should all be cautious about other aspects.

As the song goes, school's out for summer. However, we should all be mindful of children who are thinking of heading to the ballfield, playground or the municipal swimming pool. They may have other matters on their minds, instead of watching for traffic.

We ask parents to remind their children to look both ways before crossing busy streets and intersections. Motorists also need to keep a keener eye out and be on alert as well, especially in area towns.

These directions may sound too simple. However, by just talking with your children, or being more alert when driving, it may help avert a possible tragedy that no one wants to see happen.
