Mark your calendars, as it's only three weeks to the 17th Annual Austin Community Festival, 2002. As the excitement mounts for the four-day event, beginning July 4, and concluding July 7, residents won't want to miss a minute of this gala festival. The Festival Board of Directors has put together an outstanding array of games, contests, stage entertainment, and tributes that will be awe-inspiring, all for community friends and visitors alike.
The focus this year is on "American Heroes", the official Grand Marshals during the Independence Day Parade, and special salutes on July 4 and July 7.
Private seating for American Veterans during the Independence Day Parade will be located at Motor Supply parking lot, 507 1st St. NW, with Freedom Hosts and Hostesses presenting each hero with an American flag. There will also be contingents of Boy and Girl Scouts presenting the flags of countries that lost loved ones during the event of Sept. 11, along with Austin National Guard honoring our American flag. It's all happening during Concert In The Park, July 7 at Bandshell Park.
