Harriet A. Ressler, 88
Harriet A. (Srsen) Ressler, 88, of Blooming Prairie, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Blooming Prairie.
She was born May 24, 1914, in Blooming Prairie, to Alois L. and Anna (Kaplan) Srsen.
On Feb. 14, 1946, she married Frank D. Ressler at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie.
A lifelong Blooming Prairie resident, she was the founder and owner of Harriet's Dres-Wel in Blooming Prairie. She was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church where she belonged to WCCW and many other clubs and organizations including VFW Servicemen's Club, Blooming Prairie Chamber of Commerce and Steele County Historical Society. She was founder and owner of the Blooming Prairie Country Club, grand marshal of the July 4th Parade and Jaycees Woman of the Year.
Survivors include brothers-in-law, George (Tillie) Ressler, Blooming Prairie; Charles Ressler, Blooming Prairie; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Hubert and Albert.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., today, June 14, 2002, with a 4 p.m. rosary service and an 8 p.m. wake service at the funeral home and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father Richard Dernek officiating.
Interment: St. Columbanus Cemetery.

Madonna K. Murphy, 80
Madonna K. Murphy, 80, of Austin, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Austin, to Wilfred and Calista (Hoban) Murphy.
She was an active member of St. Augustine Church and the Rosary Society. She volunteered as a hospital communion distributor and at local nursing homes. She also gave rides to many shut-ins.
She enjoyed walking at the YMCA and spending time with family and friends.
She was a retired employee of Hormel Foods Corporate Office.
Survivors include brothers, Loren Murphy, Rose Creek; William Murphy, Lyle; sister, Loretta and Chuck Lenton, Robbinsdale; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Marcella Murphy.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., today, June 14, 2002, at the funeral home, with a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and 6:30 p.m. wake service, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating. Casket bearers will be Mary Murphy, Julie Frein, Nancy Finke, Maryann Marthaler, Dean Murphy and David Murphy.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery.

Kenneth L. Quandt, 84
Kenneth Quandt, 84, of Grand Meadow, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
He was born June 1, 1918, in Pleasant Valley Township, to Gustav and Amanda (Schuelke) Quandt. He attended schools in Rochester and Grand Meadow, but was forced to quit early because of the depression.
When he was 18, he worked as a truck driver and did general construction.
In October 1941, he joined the United States Army and trained in Oklahoma, traveling overseas in 1942. He landed in Africa and fought in Sicily, Italy, Anzio, France and Germany for a total of 511 days of combat. In 1945, he was honorably discharged and returned to Minnesota where he drove taxi in Rochester for about a year before returning to the farm near Grand Meadow. In 1946, he purchased his own farm and began farming on his own.
He met Leora Durhman Raustad and they were married in Sioux Falls, S.D. in January 1947.
Kenneth was involved in the community, serving six years as county assessor, two years as the church treasurer, four years on the town board and three years on the school board. He was chairman of the Farmers Union, Democratic Farm Labor, township chairman, served as chairman and member of the ASCS committee and served on the draft board for many years. He was also a member of the Grand Meadow American Legion and the Stewartville American Legion. He served as Commander for one year, was a county adjutant, and managed the American Legion Club for 20 years. In 1965, he was sworn in as Post Master for Grand Meadow. At age 64, he retired and farmed in partnership with his son, William.
Survivors include wife, Leora, Grand Meadow; sons, Edward (Cheryl) Raustad, Harmony; James Quandt, Brooklyn Park; William (Tami) Quandt, Grand Meadow; daughter, Marilyn (Pat) Murphy, Barry; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Rupkalvis, Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the funeral home and Monday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Monday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley with the Rev. Ron Prigge officiating.
Interment: In the church cemetery.
