Hayfield senior Kristy Frydenlund made the most out of her first, last and only trip to the State Girls' Golf Tournament, improving nine positions over the final 18 holes to finish tied for 11th Thursday at The Sanctuary Course at Izatys near Onamia.

Frydenlund shot eight strokes better during the second day of play to move from 20th to 11th in the final standings. She shot 86-78--164 and ended the tournament just 10 shots off the leader’s pace.

LeRoy-Ostrander senior Erin Dohlman -- a three-time qualifier who tied for 20th last season -- shot nine strokes better on the second day to finish with a flurry. The Cardinal ace carded a 96 on day one and was tied for 53rd after Wednesday, but an 87 on the final 18 holes helped Dohlman climb the charts and finish just outside the top half.

Blooming Prairie freshman Calla Swenson ended the tournament where Dohlman found herself after the first day, placing 53rd in the final standings. Swenson tied with four others with a two-day total of 191, shooting 93 and 98 in respective rounds.
