County residents are eligible to participate in talent show

Attention jugglers, vocalists, magicians, musicians and other talented Mower County residents.

The Mower County fair needs you.

Winners at the August talent extravaganza in Austin will advance to the 2002 Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul this fall.

In addition, they will win cash prizes for their exceptional talents at the mower County fair.

According to Denice Mudra, Mower County Fair Board office manager, there are three divisions for contestants. They include the teen division, ages 13-19; preteen division; ages up to 12; and open division, any age.

Professionally qualified judges will pick three top winners in each division for prizes of $50, first place; $40, second place; and $30, third place.

First place winners in each division advance to the Minnesota State Fair, where they will compete for prizes ranging from $50 to $375.

A year ago, Jessica Vietor, Austin, finished second in the preteen division at the Minnesota State Fair.

The Mower County Fair winners will perform in competition

3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, on Godfather's Fair Square Stage.

According to Mudra, contestants must live in Mower County to be eligible to compete in August.

A sound system will be provided as well as piano. Instrumental tapes may be used, but no vocal backup on tapes will be allowed.

There is a $10 entry fee.

Winners going to the State Fair are limited to a 4-minute performance, but there is no limit at the Mower County Fair.
