Jake Donze, a singer/songwriter from Rochester, will perform a benefit concert for the Paramount Theater Saturday June 1. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00.
Donze has been performing his original acoustic music around the Midwest since 1994. Those attending the show should expect a night full of entertaining stories, catchy melodies and true-to-life lyrics.
Performing with Donze will be guitarist Greg Hintermeister, drummer Sam Allen, bassist Mark McGlinch, and vocalist/percussionist Karyn Hintermeister.
The band was formed in 2001 to play at Rochesterfest.
The show went so well the band decided to keep on going.
They will be performing at the Freedomfest in Rochester again this summer.
Donze grew up around music, His father played guitar and many of his friends played music too. Donze was acknowledged for his musical talent when he performed original songs he had written for friends in his college dorm.
" A group of people that heard me sing my songs said if I recorded these songs that they would buy my recordings. This was the catalyst for me to make my first CD. I have three CDs out now. They will be on sale during the intermission on Saturday night," said Donze.
The Jake Donze Band is looking forward to their debut in Austin this weekend. They were scheduled to come March 9, but were canceled because of one of the few blizzards we had last winter.
"We've heard so many good things about the Paramount. We are really looking forward to performing there. It's a place that sells huge pickles during intermission," said Donze.
Donze's goals for his music are to get lots of people to hear him. His music is appropriate for anyone aged 2 to 100. His albums are "Minnesota Boy", "8 1/2 Avenue" and "the light in van hise".
