Return of Barrow Show is welcomed

There's no doubt that the National Barrow Show's return to Austin is welcome news.
The show, which will be from Sept. 9-11, is coming back to Mower County, thanks to a cooperative effort between community leaders, Hormel Foods and the National Association of Swine Records.
Economically, it wasn't good news to this area after the show wasn't in Austin last year. Fortunately, local bowling enthusiasts came through by landing the state bowling tournament earlier this year. That event helped recoup some of the lost dollars this economy would have received from the Barrow Show.
With the Barrow Show's return, it's going to mean that much more business for local hotels, restaurants and grocery stores (just to name a few).
We're also thankful that Austin and Mower County governments also came through by pledging up to $5,000 to help defray setup and cleanup costs.
It's that kind of seed money and commitment that will help circulate much more dollars in this community come September.
