The Section 1AAA seedings held true to form for the top two teams in the tournament as No. 1 Farmington (20-2) and No. 2 Austin (18-3) advanced into the finals with wins Friday night.

The top-seeded Tigers took care of fourth-seeded Lakeville without trouble, 11-0 in five innings, simultaneous to Austin's 3-0, eight-inning win over sixth-seeded Rochester Mayo.

Austin and Farmington will collide in Tuesday's championship match, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Field 9 on the North Diamonds of the Todd Park Softball Complex in Austin.

Lakeville is the only non-Big Nine Conference opponent to beat the Packers this season -- 2-1 in the Elks Invite. Winona, who was eliminated from Sections in Wednesday's first rounds, and Mankato East (Section 2) account for Austin's other losses.

Farmington mashed Northfield in their quarterfinal match of Section 1AAA, scoring a 10-0, six-inning win fueled by 10 hits and a one-hitter from Kristen Mainz. The Tigers followed it up with an 11-0 rout of Lakeville on Friday.

Austin had 11 hits and Amy Kelly tossed a one-hitter in a 5-0 win over Rosemount Wednesday. The Pack had seven hits in Friday's defeat of Mayo. The AHS defense committed one inconsequential error in each victory.

"We're going to need to hit the ball on Tuesday, that's for sure," Austin coach Todd Waterbury said after Friday's triumph.

Rochester Century and Lakeville square off in one losers' bracket match Tuesday at 6 p.m., while Northfield and Mayo meet in the other. The two winners will play at 8 p.m., and the victor of that contest will face the loser between Austin and Farmington Thursday, May 30, at 6 p.m. The Section 1AAA finals will be decided Friday, at 6 and 8 p.m.
