Council will discuss Business Park matters

The Austin City Council will hold a public hearing on extending sanitary sewer, water main and 27th Avenue NW to Austin Business Park at tonight's meeting.
The project is the first phase in developing the business park (also known as the Cook Farm property) and is expected to cost $600,000.
The sanitary sewer would be extended north, along Highway 218 from 21st Avenue NW to the lift station and Austin Utilities would complete water main installation along Fourth Street NW.
The council also will hold public hearings on street improvement assessments on Eighth Street SW from First Avenue to Ninth Avenue, which was assessed for $76,862 at 6.5 percent for 15 years; on Fourth Avenue NE, Fifth Avenue NE, Sixth Avenue NE and Seventh Avenue NE, which were assessed for $37,635 at 6.5 percent for 15 years; on Third Avenue SW from Seventh Street to 12th Street, which was assessed for $56,608.75 at 6.5 percent for 15 years; and on Sixth Avenue SE from Fourth Street to Ninth Street and Ninth Street SE from 10th Drive to Eighth Avenue, which were assessed for $11,541 at 6.5 percent for 15 years.
The council is expected to vote on an ordinance which would reduce the Austin Port Authority to seven commissioners.
Since 1998, the board has operated with eight members and only allows the president to vote when there are tied votes.
The proposed change would reestablish how the board operated and voted prior to 1998 and would probably make tie votes improbable and would allow for members to meet quorum easier.
