Police investigate prescription drug case at Ellis Middle School
Five Ellis Middle School students were treated for possible prescription drug complications Tuesday.
According to an Austin Police Department report, a 12-year-old female student brought the drugs to school Tuesday and distributed them to female friends, ages 13-15.
Police were alerted when a 15-year-old female student suffered a severe reaction to taking the drugs and was "reacting violently" in the school nurse's office.
A Gold Cross Ambulance Service crew rushed one of the girls to Austin Medical Center, while police took three others to AMC for treatment.
The 12-year-old female student admitted bringing "about 20 pills" to school Tuesday. They included non-prescription Aleve, a pain killer, plus iron bills and Concera, an amphetamine, and Prozac, an anti-depressant.
All of the pills were apparently ingested by the students, according to the police report.
The Mower County Attorney will review the evidence to consider filing charges.
