Major fund-raiser
The "Preserving A Legacy" land acquisition fund-raiser is underway.
Dave Cole and John Beckel are co-chairing the effort for the Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center
It was 75 years ago, when the son of the founder of Hormel Foods Corporation planted the first of over 200,000 trees and what became the nature Center.
Twice before, the nature Center was expanded from its original 123 acres with
55 additional acres in 1978 and 101 acres in 1984.. The latest land acquisition project involves adding 210 acres to the Nature Center's current 278 acres.
The goal is to add wildlife habitat and increase environmental education opportunities.
The Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center is seeking to raise $750,000 for land acquisition and restoration in this, the diamond jubilee
year of the creation of what became the Nature Center.
