Possible charges await boy who brought knife to school

A 15-year-old boy is awaiting possible charges after he was caught carrying a knife at school Wednesday.

According to Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp, the school liaison officer at Austin High School was told by another student that the boy had a knife.

The officer confiscated a 7-inch boot knife with a 3 1/2-inch blade from the boy. Philipp said, when the boy was questioned,

he said he found the knife on the floor by the gym and was about to turn it in when he was confronted by the officer.

According to Philipp, later the boy said "he found the knife when he was mowing the lawn the night before and brought it to school because he was a afraid he was going to be jumped."

Charges have yet to be filed.
