Weyerhaeuser's containerboard packaging facility in Austin recently earned the Minnesota Safety Council's Governor's Safety Award.
Plant officials and employees celebrated the achievement Thursday, and also honored workers there who have worked 1 million work hours without an injury that requires an employee to miss time from the job.
Weyerhaeuser will receive the safety award at a Minneapolis Convention Center luncheon on May 3.
"Safety is a key part of our culture and work systems here at Weyerhaeuser," said plant superintendent Sterling Brody.
