Packers place seventh at Owatonna Co-Ed Relays

The Austin girls' and boys' track teams paired up for the Owatonna Co-Ed Relays Friday afternoon, finishing last out of seven top-tier teams in attendance.
"We were very proud of our showing at this meet considering some of our key athletes were on an orchestra trip," said girls' coach Lisa Glynn.
The Packer contingent was kept from the winners' stand throughout the day, getting a number of top-three finishes nonetheless. Kari Loger sprinted to a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash, with teammate Theresa Hirsch taking seventh.
Mike Gravelle grabbed a third-place finish in the boys' 100-meter dash, with Derek Hall filing in fifth at the tape. Carl Bauer and Marc Forman finished 3-4 in the 1,600 run, with respective times of 4:55.4 and 4:56.3. Bauer's time was his personal-best.
Loger again got close to the top with a third-place finish in the 400, and Hirsch was again in accompaniment with an eighth-place finish. Hall hustled to third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and Josh Hall came in eighth.
Austin's relay teams were relatively quiet, with Renee Ludwig tossed a personal-best 108-3 to fuel the fourth-place finish in the discus relay.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Justin Poirier, Natalie Bowers, Bauer and Katie Munk made its way to third, while the long jump, triple jump and pole vault relays were all fifth, as was the 4×100-meter relay team.
Bryan Larson's eighth-place finish in the 400 and Lisa Bue's eighth-place finish in the 1,600 run rounded out Austin's point-scoring.
Austin next runs at the Faribault Invitational Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., while the first home meet of the season is on Thursday. The Packers host the Ellis Invitational at Wescott Field at 4 p.m.
