Irma L. Kemmerick, 75

Irma L. Kemmerick, 75, formerly of Austin, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Madonna Towers, Rochester.

She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Minneapolis, to Albert and Emily (Bretschneider) Volp.

On May 16, 1953, she married Bernard William Kemmerick at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Rick Andrist, Rochester; Joan and Brooks Taylor, Pocahontas, Iowa; eight grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence &uot;Clare&uot; and Mary Volp, Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, Feb. 25, 1990; two sisters; and two stillborn sons.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., today, April 30, 2002, with a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service and on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Service: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father William Becker officiating. Casket bearers will be Jim Volp, Ryan Kemmerick, Jim Wermerskirchen, Josh Andrist, Scott Perry and Jake Andrist.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery.

Martha May, 97

Martha May, 97, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at the Opportunity Adult Family Home, Spokane, Wash.

She was born May 19, 1904, to Frank Blake and Katherine (Pitzen) Blake in Meyer, Iowa. She attended school in Meyer through eighth grade.

On Sept. 22, 1926, she married Leo May in Meyer. He died in 1963 and Martha moved to Spokane, Wash. in 1965.

Survivors include daughters, Ruth (James) Lucas, Cheney, Wash.; Valeria (Herman) Miller, Austin; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Rose Lutgen, Sister Bay, Wis.; Anne Har, Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2002, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home and Saturday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: Noon, Saturday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, Iowa with the Rev. Joe Schneider officiating.

Interment: The church cemetery.

Virginia Schrandt, 52

Virginia Schrandt, 52, of Stacyville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, Iowa.

She was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Osage, Iowa to Wilfred and Rita Niess Schrandt.

She graduated from Marian High School in 1968. She worked at Easter Seal in Mason City and Cedar Valley Rehabilitation in Austin. She worked in the housekeeping department at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home until ill health caused her to retire. She became a resident of the nursing home in September 2000.

She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include mother, Rita, Stacyville, Iowa; brothers, Dick (Susan), Caldwell, Idaho; Charles (Beverly), South St. Paul; sister, Marie (Kelly) Hendrix, Caldwell, Idaho; nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

Visitation: 3 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2002, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. scripture service at the church.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa with Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating.

Interment: Visitation Cemetery.
