Doris M. Qualey, 78
Doris M. Qualey, 78, of Austin, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Austin Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Lakefield, to Albert and Helen (Malchow) Hage. She attended Country School in Lakefield.
When she was 18, she traveled around the United States doing various jobs including working on airplanes that were used in World War II.
In 1945, she moved to Austin. On April 3, 1948, she married Alden Qualey at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Austin.
She did various jobs in Austin; waitressing, working for Hormel and being a homemaker until her children graduated from High School.
She enjoyed her gardening and would can much of the harvest to share with others.
Survivors include husband, Alden Qualey, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Ruble, Austin; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Cheryl Qualey, Austin; Randy Qualey, Austin; Larry and Brenda Qualey, Austin; seven grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Gary Schammel, Pine Island, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Betty Hage, Henderson, Colo.; Wilbur and Betty Hage, Lakefield; Leo and Judy Hage, Pine Island, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lorvin Hage, Wilmer Hage; and sister, Ruby Hage.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal.
Service: 1:30 p.m. memorial service, Friday, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Stohlmann officiating. Organist will be Robert Goetz.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.

Rayburn Dillon Earl, 86
Rayburn Dillon Earl, 86, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home, Austin.
He was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Mower County to Casper and Lillie (Lerum) Earl.
He graduated from Austin High School in 1934. He served in the Pacific from 1941 to 1945 during World War II.
He worked at Hormel from 1934 to 1973. He retired in 1973 and moved to Mille Lac Lake where he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He also enjoyed playing cribbage at the Senior Center where he was a member.
Survivors include daughters, Dee Ann Earl, Austin; Susan and John Murphy, Austin; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Arett, Austin; Grace Lafferty, St. Ansgar; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Service: 1 p.m. memorial service, Friday, April 26, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin with the Rev. Jim Peck officiating.
Thomas Kent Osmundson, 61
Thomas K. Osmundson, 61, of Albert Lea, died Monday, April 15, 2002, of cancer, surrounded by family.
He was born April 25, 1940, to Norman T. "Ike" and Marion E. (Diedrich) Osmundson in Albert Lea.
He graduated from Albert Lea High School and attended Faribault Technical College. He served in the United States Army from November 1958 to February 1962.
On May 11, 1963, he married Jean Marie Werner at the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea.
Tom was employed as a supervisor at Cedar Valley Services and owned Tom's Typewriter Repair for 20 years. He was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a former member of Church of St. Theodore. He took pride in his yard and flowers and did woodworking.
Survivors include wife, Jean; daughters, Cindy (Virgil) Dowd, St. Cloud; Kelli (Andy) Nelson; Peggy Osmundson; son James (Cherie) Osmundson, all of Albert Lea; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joan (Bruce) Carr; Mary (Rod) Tharaldson; William (Bev) Osmundson; Richard (Dee) Osmundson; Timothy Osmundson; Robert Osmundson; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Richard and Jan Werner; Dean and Kay Werner; Jack and Donna Werner; Linda and Doug Blair; Laura and Jerry Colbert; Susie and Greg Bigelow; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mathilda; grandfather, John; father- and mother-in-law, Raymond and Betty Werner.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., today, April 17, 2002, at the funeral home.
Service: 11 a.m. memorial service, Thursday, at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Omar Stuenkel and Mike Ellis officiating.
Interment: Private interment at a later date.
