LOG earns split

Grant Lunning pitched three innings of scoreless relief and drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh as LeRoy-Ostrander/Grand Meadow split a non-conference doubleheader at Houston Friday night.
The winning pitcher in the first game, Houston’s Chris Carlson, also drove in the game-winning run in the first game. His dribbler back to the mound with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning plated the winning run with two outs.
LOGM (3-1) had just four hits in the first game, but a Bulldog pitching trio allowed only three Houston hits in the nightcap. The Cyclones (2-2)beat Ryan King (1-1) in the first game, getting nine hits.
LOGM worked back to tie the score at 4-4 with two runs in the top of the sixth, but two LOGM errors led to Houston’s game-winning run with two outs in the bottom half of the inning.
The Bulldogs turned the tables with Jacob Rowe, Dustin Thorson and Lunning throwing in the second game. Lefty Rowe went 3 2/3 innings before giving way to Thorson in the fourth. Lunning allowed only one hit while striking out four in the final three innings.

LOGM scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 4-4. Thorson drove in Chad Doocy with a double, stole third and scored on a passed ball to tie. Lunning’s sacrifice fly to center scored Anthony Stejskal as the game-winner one inning later.
