History repeats on S/GM girls golf

History sometimes has a strange way of repeating itself.

The Southland/Grand Meadow girls' golf team came up one stroke short -- again -- in losing a close one to visiting Southeast Conference rival Rushford-Peterson at Cedar River Country Club Friday. The visiting Trojans carded a 229, S/GM shot 230. Rushford-Peterson won last year's dual with Southland/Grand Meadow by one stroke as well.

Charlotte Retterath led S/GM with a 55, followed by Cathy Schneider's 56, a 58 from Megan Underdahl, and Lindsay Viker with 61. Also playing Friday afternoon for S/GM were Rachel Simon, who shot a 79, and Anna Noterman, who finished with a 90.

Brittany Bunke captured the meet medalist honors for R-P shooting a 53.

"I'm very pleased with the girls' performance today," said Southland/Grand Meadow coach Wayne Robertson. "They have improved their scores with every match this season."

The loss brings Southland/Grand Meadow's overall record to 3-4, and SEC record to 2-3. Their next meet will be on Tuesday at Cedar River Country Club, were S/GM will host the Kingsland Knights in a non-conference match up.

The competetion will start at 4:30 p.m.
