The Austin High baseball team -- looking to start a winning streak -- traveled to Northfield on Friday to play a non-conference game against a tough Raiders team.
Austin jumped ahead quickly by scoring two runs during their first at bat, but failed to keep pace with Northfield as the Raiders scored in the second, third, fifth, and sixth innings in a 5-2 final.
Nick Bowe led Austin's batting, going 2-4 with one run scored and one run batted in. Billy Anderson went 2-3 with a double and a run, and Andy Klapperick hit 1-3 with an RBI.
Tim Johnson pitched four innings for the Pack, giving up two runs on six Raider hits, striking out four and walking four.
Adam Van Proosdy pitched two innings of relief, getting the loss as he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks.
The Packers drop their overall record to 2-5, while their Big Nine Conference record remains at 2-3.
Austin's next game will be Tuesday in Faribault against the host Falcons. AHS defeated Faribault in the season-opener for both teams, 5-4, on April 9 at Marcusen Park in Austin.
