Charles Fawver has received the Mower County Board of Commissioners’ approval for an outlet from a new residential housing development.
Fawver brought his preliminary plat to the county board Tuesday.
The area is near where Fawver has developed other residential housing projects in southwest Austin and between 22nd and 24th Avenues Southwest and 14th Street Southwest on the east.
Fawver needed the county board’s permission for a storm sewer outlet that will drain into Judicial District No. 4.
Rick Morrison, county drainage system inspector, recommended approval after examining the preliminary plat for the residential subdivision designed by the Jones, Haugh & Smith engineering firm.
Fawver agreed to provide in writing specific details of the drainage system for the county commissioners, when the final plat is presented to officials for examination.
Mike Hanson, Mower County Engineer, said the information would be helpful to determine the responsibilities of individual parties involved in the project.
David Hillier, 3rd District county commissioner, pointed out, Fawver’s proposal is for an outlet only.
Woody Vereide, Mower County Auditor, also pointed out the outlet does not mean Fawver is considered a landowner in the Judicial Ditch No. 4’s district for any purposes including the redetermination of benefits.
Fawver explained the plat covers only the first phase of his plans for the residential subdivision in Lickteig Second Addition.
The county commissioners gave their unanimous approval to Fawver’s plans for handling storm water runoff in the area.
Also Tuesday, the county commissioners approved the final payment for the new deck on the Sinclar/Hormel Century Drive bridge in downtown Austin.
Minnowa Construction, Inc. was paid a total of $334,000 to make the repairs over the 4th Street Northeast bridge in Austin.
Hanson will take the county commissioners on a "road trip" Thursday, July 26, in inspect the county’s highways and bridges, including the reconstruction of Highway 14 from LeRoy to Highway 16.
