Two-time state qualifier Erin Dohlman of LeRoy-Ostrander finished with a flourish to tie for 20th overall in the Class A girls’ state golf meet held Thursday and Friday at Izatys Golf and Yacht Club in Onamia.
Dohlman, a junior from L-O, improved seven strokes from her first-round total of 89 to finish in a three-way tie for 20th. She shot 41-41 over the final 18 holes to end with an 89-82 – 171.
Lyle/Pacelli sophomore Sammi Jones slowly drifted back in the pack after a sluggish second day at the state tournament. Jones, who became the school’s first girls’ state golf qualifier, shot 48-47 – 95 and 47-51 – 98 on the second day to slide into a tie for 57th overall.
Southland-Grand Meadow’s Jeff Thalberg, who won the Section 1A meet at Cedar River Country Club in Adams, was unable to repeat the feat. He did manage to regroup after a difficult first day on the links, shooting 47-48 – 95 and 43-42 – 85 to finish in with a 180. He tied for 72nd overall out of 88 total golfers.
