There’s no shortage of things for families to do in the area this weekend:
It’s Dairy Days in Adams
The first area summer celebration kicks off this weekend in Adams when the residents gather for Dairy Days today through Sunday. Weekend-long events include a softball tourney, co-ed volleyball and a malt stand. Today, enjoy the citywide rummage sale and the free outdoor movie of "Babe" at dusk. On Saturday, the rummage sales continue in addition to a pancake breakfast, dairy farm tour, 3 on 3 basketball, a steak fry and a street dance. Then on Sunday, enjoy a breakfast buffet at PJ’s, a barbecue lunch, antique tractor pull, the grand parade at 1 p.m., children’s games, a chicken fry, an ice-cream eating contest and the milking contest. Moooo.
Catch a fish for free
Here’s an event with the perfect price: free. Take A Kid Fishing Day will be at East Side Lake on Sunday. The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain date Sunday). There are plenty of prizes and it’s open to kids up to 15 years old. Adults also can fish without a license if they are with a child. On the free list are pop, hotdogs, chips and candy.
Got a valuable rookie card?
OakPark Mall once again hosts a sports card and memorabilia show this weekend. Check out the vendors’ tables from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, call (641) 357-7746.
