Waters flowing through Austin were receding Wednesday.
Overnight that changed.
Early morning rain has caused more concern about the Cedar River plus Turtle and Dobbins creeks in the city.
Both the Cedar River and Turtle Creek were in the "alert" stage this morning after Austin Police Department officers monitoring the rising waters issued their reports.
Meanwhile, no more reports of damages from Tuesday night’s severe storms surfaced from the Mower County Sheriff’s Department.
The damages remain confined to the eastern Freeborn County area, including severely hit Glenville where 35 Minnesota Army National Guard soldiers are providing assistance.
Teacher assaulted
An Ellis Middle School teacher was physically assaulted by an unruly student.
According to an Austin Police Department report, the teacher was attempting to discipline the student, when the male juvenile verbally assaulted her.
The teacher then attempted to escort the student from her classroom and he kicked her.
School authorities and the Austin police were notified of the incident.
The teacher did not require medical attention.
Computer stolen
ADAMS – A Gateway model computer was stolen from Southland Public Schools.
The computer — valued in excess of $1,000 — is owned by Family Connections and was being used in the school on a temporary basis.
The computer was taken sometime between April 27 and May 1, according to a Mower County Sheriff’s Department report.
A suspect has been interviewed and the investigation is continuing.
