Treat mom to breakfast

Looking for a place to take your mother for breakfast Sunday morning? Look no farther than Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, where a Mother’s Day breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon in the church’s Cunningham Hall. The meal is sponsored by the Austin Area Knights of Columbus and proceeds go toward Catholic education. Adults are $3 and chidren 12 and under are $2.

Not-so-real emergency

Want to witness an emergency in the making? Riverland Community College law enforcement students will respond to a simulated three-vehicle accident complete with emergency vehicles and squad cars. And unlike most emergencies, bystanders are welcome to witness the event. The exercise gets under way at 9 a.m. Saturday in the north parking lot of the college’s west campus in Austin.

At the Paramount

Austin native Jeanne Cotter will perform at 7 tonight at Austin’s historic Paramount Theatre. The nationally celebrated singer and songwriter is performing to help raise funds for the theater’s restoration project. Tickets are $10 for general admission and are available at Nemitz’s in downtown Austin. Call (888) 698-7362.
