Shop for a bargain

If you’re in search of a good bargain, you might want to head south on Highway 218 this weekend for St. Ansgar, Iowa. The community’s Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring citywide garage sales throughout St. Ansgar on Saturday. Look for the balloons where sales are being held or pick up maps at Food Center, Kum N Go and Casey’s General Store.

The hills are alive …

"The Sound of Music" opens this weekend at the Frank W. Bridges Theatre on the Riverland Community College campus. Tickets are $8 at Nemitz’s and the Riverland bookstore. Showtimes this weekend are 7:30 tonight and Saturday night and 2 p.m. Sunday. Box office: 433-0595.

Free family bowling

OK, here’s a price that is just right – free. Yes, Echo Lanes is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for free family bowling. Families can come to the lanes and bowl for free for an hour. In addition, shoe rental is free, too. Free bowling is every hour on the hour and everything in the kitchen will be priced at $1 each, tax included.
